Weight Loss Coffee
March 30, 2011
Companies selling weight loss coffee focus on a few means by which their coffee is supposed to help you lose weight. First off, they claim their coffee will help curb your appetite. This is obviously helpful since the less you eat, the fewer calories your body needs to burn, and thus the more weight you lose. The other side of the argument here is that just drinking the coffee itself can add calories, and associated activities can be unhealthy as well. If you add cream and sugar to your coffee, those are both high calorie foods. Also, drinking coffee is often a social activity accompanied by food. If you go out for a coffee, it is very likely that you’ll get a snack or meal to go with it, which is calories you might not have otherwise eaten.
The next claim of the companies selling coffee that is supposedly genetically engineered to promote weight loss is that it significantly increases energy levels and as a result, metabolism levels as well. This is obviously true to some degree since caffeine does give you an energy boost. This can help you get through your daily workout and also replace other energy sources such as sugar. The counterpoint to this argument says that while it is true you can get a temporary energy boost, you can crash once it wears off if you don’t keep drinking coffee and the sugar rush that is released by the caffeine can turn to fat if it isn’t burned off in a workout.
Another claim is that the coffee can help limit your hungriness. While this can be true in some cases, it may simply be because you are filling your stomach with coffee instead of food. This can be a good thing if you are drinking your coffee straight, but if you are drinking your coffee with sweeteners, you may be taking in just as many calories as a small meal. Also, another thing to consider is the aforementioned socializing associated with drinking coffee. Even if you aren’t hungry, you may end up eating when you drink coffee just because everyone around you is.
The companies selling weight loss coffee also say it helps improve mental focus. This may be true at first, but you crash when it wears off and relying on caffeine can lead to dependence. Weight Loss Myths That Are Keeping You Fat!
March 23, 2011
We all have our own ideas about how to lose weight. Most of what we believe about weight loss is embedded in our heads from commercials we see on television, celebrity endorsements, and friends. It is rare that we take to time to think about what is real and what a weight loss myth is. However most of what we think we know about weight loss is a myth.
The first myth we will discuss is the idea that if you cut your calorie intake substantially your weight loss will occur faster. Initially you may notice a drop in weight. However with such a dramatic decrease to your normal calorie consumption your body will think its starving. This causes your body to hold on to any piece of food it gets because it doesn’t know the next time it will be fed. You body will try to protect what food it receives and slow down your metabolism. After a short amount of time you will notice a complete stop to your weight loss.
The second myth we tend to believe is that the stricter our diets are the better the results will be. Many people tend to think that if we suffer through a diet and restrict the things we like then we are doing something right. Strict diets usually may give you results but tend not to last in the long run. These kinds of diets are hard to follow for long periods of time and result in a relapse and eventual repeated weight gain.
The belief that unhealthy food is completely off limits when trying to lose weight is a giant myth. The reality is that you want to incorporate some of your favorite foods into your diet at least once a week. By introducing some unhealthy foods to your diet from time to time your metabolism will continue to work correctly rather than reach a plateau. Eating is similar to an exercise routine. If you do the same exercises everyday eventually you will stop seeing results because your body is used to the everyday routine.
The last myth is the idea that if you eat late at night you will gain weight. The time of day you choose to eat is irrelevant. Rather the quantity of food and exercise in your daily routine determines your weight loss. It is important to lose weight in a healthy and realistic matter. As you can see there are a lot of weight loss myths out there so your best bet is to follow the age old rule of eating proportionally and exercising.
Weight Loss and Calories
March 9, 2011
So many of today’s diet plans never mention calories, but they tie together or you just will not lose weight. It is important what foods you put in your mouth, but one essential does not change. If you eat more calories than you burn, you will ultimately gain weight. It is a fact.
Do you know what you should weigh? Most of us have a pretty good idea. I can tell you my ideal weight and when I’m there I feel good and look good too. If you don’t know, get a weight chart and you can figure it out. Be honest when you are deciding whether you have a small medium or large build. Most of us want to have a large build so that we can weigh more. You know if you are cheating.
Figure your target weight Then I recommend 10 calories per day, per pound you wish to weigh. So for example, if you plan to weigh 150 pounds, you should consume 150 x 10 calories or 1500 calories per day weigh 150 consistently. This assumes that you do exercise regularly and that you are eating a balanced diet. If you don’t exercise, reduce that to 8.5 calories per day per pound or a total of 1275 calories per day if 150 is your desired goal.
Keep in mind that it takes about a 3500 calorie reduction in a week to lose one pound.
Here is An Example:
If you are eating an average of 2500 calories per day and reduce it to 1500 calories per day, then in one week you will have 7,000 fewer calories or lose 2 pounds. Let’s look at the math:
Current Avg. Calories per day @ 2,500 less New Avg. Calories per day @ 1,500 = 1,000 fewer calories per day x 7 days = 7,000 fewer calories per week / 3,500 calories per pound lost = 2 pounds lost the first week.
That is a good weight loss amount per week. Losing more per week over the long haul can create more problems for you and ultimately people usually regain everything they lose if the weight loss is too fast. The goal is to lose weight and keep it off. Do it right and you have a much better chance of living out your life with good health.
If you are significantly overweight, you may lose more because you have so much more to lose. As you approach your correct body weight, it becomes much harder to lose weight.
I have outlined the way to lose weight slowly and deliberately. For those who are looking for instant gratification, this is not the way to approach a diet because it will defeat you and you are the one that wants to win. There are other ways, but I like this best.
Is a Weight Loss Cleanse for You?
March 2, 2011
With a little bit of patience, you can easily succeed. We are looking for everything to happen fast. Like losing weight- we want a fast and easy weight loss solution. While these thoughts are not out of the question, some moderation is needed.
Putting together a diet plan can yield a surprising and easy weight loss experience What are you presently eating now, and how much? Take a little time to access your present eating habits. See if you are truly eating a healthy diet.
If you are anything like me, I was repulsed at my list. I saw how many times I made it OK to eat food high in fat or sugars by convincing myself that I will do better next meal… what’s your excuse?
Eliminating junk foods containing sugar and ‘bad’ fat are essential actions if you wish to lose weight quickly To help get the ball rolling, one might consider doing a cleanse. Instant results often can be experienced.
If you do not want to experience the sometimes humbling experience of a cleanse (ie a colonic), the answer is simple. Eat fresh organic fruits and vegetables. Eating ‘one ingredient’ natural organic foods can all by itself, yield measurable results. You want to consider food that takes more calories to digest than the food actually has. These calories if left unused will be turned into fat deposits.
Cutting back certain foods and adding more nutritious foods are great action steps, yet, there is more. Yes, here it comes…. Exercise! It is very important to keep the body moving. While extremely beneficial in most any health expert’s repertoire, most get disappointed just prior to that slimmer sleeker body and give up just when the body starts to catch on to the new diet plan.
When you combine exercise with a good weight loss program a quick and efficient loss of weight can be easily achieved. Exercise is the natural way to nurture and cleanse the body. Sometimes, as I mentioned above, we may need to kick start the system by experiencing some very rapid results by subjecting ourselves to a monitored cleanse.
However, realize that cleanses are usually monitored with a strict special diet, supplements and relaxation techniques to remove toxins, waste and some fatty substances from the digestive system- not fat.
Cleanses, other than for emergency and other health needs, are, at best, a temporary fix. They have benefits, but it can not be classified as easy weight loss. However, this is not to be associated with fat loss.
These are some simple and fast ways to get you on the track of a sleek and healthy body. The weight loss tips above may your thinking to direct you to a true diet system once the feeling of being thinner is achieved. Staying thinner over time will require a more long term diet solution.
